Scary Scale Rating: 1/5
Fast Pass: Fast Pass needed during peak times
Park: Magic Kingdom
Background: This iconic race car attraction has had three names since the park opened in 1971. It was originally sponsored by Goodyear and called the Grand Prix Raceway. In 1994 the name was changed to Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. Finally, in 2008 the name was shortened to Tomorrowland Speedway.
Ride Description: The queue for Tomorrowland Speedway is a standard turnstile, back and forth waiting line. Once you are through the line, you are guided down a path and into your very own race car. Each car sits 1-2 people. While you are in your car you have to push the gas and break pedals and steer! You get to drive around a fairly large circular race track. Once you reach the end, you have to wait in a “traffic jam” until it is your turn to get out of the car. Every time we have ridden it, it’s been extremely jerky and has terrible responsiveness. We typically avoid this ride because it simply isn’t worth it to us. Driving a small, hard to control vehicle in a large circle is not something that we find appealing.
Griffin Guide Tips:
- When the wait times are long this is a great time to play on your Play Disney Parks App
- Try to avoid this ride, unless you have some really big car enthusiasts in your party, this attraction is not worth your valuable time in Magic Kingdom
